A Quality Engineer. And a Quality Guy!

Jacob is the Quality Engineer here at Aerol Co. Recently, he completed his AS9100 internal auditor training, which is essentially the International Aerospace standard. To become certified, Jacob completed a 24-hour class over three days. The class reviews each clause within the certification standard, shows you how to perform an internal audit, and how to respond to and fix any Non-Conformities received during the audit. He will recertify every year to keep current.

“The certification is important when dealing with any customers involved in Aerospace casters because most large aerospace companies will not do business with a supplier if they are not certified in AS9100,” notes Jacob. “The benefit of being certified is that it gives me more experience to help the Audit process go along faster with fewer Non-Conformities by having our shop continue to follow the standards.”

Jacob grew up in Napoleon and attended the Jackson Area Career Center for Precision Machining. His senior year, he entered a machining competition and took 1st in the State of Michigan, leading to a scholarship to attend Lincoln College of Technology in Indianapolis. There, he learned to Program CNC Mills and Lathes and became certified in Mastercam Programming and Fanuc Robotics Programming. He enjoys the challenge of being a Quality Engineer and the opportunity to start programming the new CMM machine purchased by Aerol.

Jacob likes to do a little bit of everything in his spare time. In the summer, he coaches and plays in his church’s men’s Softball League. He also loves going Camping and just hanging out with family and friends.
