CH-53K Maintenance Dolly – Lakehurst, NJ

When an engineering depot in Lakehurst needed a custom maintenance dolly for the CH-53K helicopter, standard running gear wasn’t enough. The tool required strict load capacity, tight height constraints, and absolute structural reliability.

Over nine months, our engineers worked collaboratively with the depot team — adapting our proprietary running gear and integrating custom-manufactured hubs with F-16 front landing gear tires supplied by the DoD.

The result:
A hybrid system engineered to meet demanding specifications and perform reliably during landing gear removal operations.

Perennial Partnerships

Aerol’s partnership with Lockheed Martin on the legendary U-2 spy plane spans nearly seven decades — a testament to our longevity and reliability.

Originally asked to engineer a rear landing wheel capable of extreme speed and temperature variations, Aerol developed an aluminum-core wheel paired with our proprietary polyurethane formulation.

The wheel still performs today under some of the harshest conditions imaginable:

  • Landing speeds approaching 140 mph
  • Tarmac heat exceeding 120°F
  • Altitude temperatures plunging to -40°F at 70,000 feet
