And not just any caster wheel will do for many of their applications.
Aerol was the first to manufacture a permanent molded all-aluminum caster and wheel. This aluminum construction and sealed bearings offer a maintenance-free, heavy-duty caster. That fills a critical need for casters that can take all the abuse that’s dished out and roll with it.

Aerol is directly responsible for the evolution of ground service equipment, designing everything from simple caster-mounted dollies to elaborate running gear systems. Our aluminum casters include the yoke, swivel section, and wheel core. The all-aluminum construction also means that the overall weight of the caster is reduced to about 1/3. But this reduced weight doesn’t mean reduced performance: you’re still assured of the same strength and capacity that you would find in a typical steel caster.

Each wheel is on its separate axle with separate legs: it’s like having two separate casters on one top plate. This is highly beneficial because it helps to keep both wheels on the ground to help keep the cart or dolly level, even when the ground isn’t level or an obstruction is encountered. It also helps avoid excessive stress on just one caster wheel, reducing the risk of failure and potential injuries.
Running Gear Applications
Aerol offers three “thru-axle” running gear for commercial running gear applications designed to handle most situations. These designs are:
Light Duty — 4,000 lbs. per axle
Medium Duty — 8,000 lbs. per axle
Heavy Duty — 12,000 lbs. per axle.
In addition to Commercial Running Gear, Aerol manufactures an extensive line of mobile equipment components and assemblies that meet the requirements of Military Specifications. These include the Banjo Mount, where the wheels and spring suspension are mounted on the side of the carriage with rotary movement, and the SAM Suspension Unit, which also mounts on the side of the carriage and features linear motion.
